Poets Corner

A Patch of Ice

Snow had fallen overnight

And dropped a thin veneer of white

Just enough it was to hide

The truth that lay below my side

For surely I’d a walked around

That piece of earth that took me down

If I had only seen below

An extraordinary fall of snow.

But tricks lay restless and beauty bound

In random patchwork all around

And miles and miles of paradise

Looks different on a patch of ice.
